Why did you choose to become a financial adviser?
Having worked for many years in numerous face to face account management roles I always thought that a career in Financial Services would be a good fit for me. I also had the desire to run my own business and look after my own clients’ needs.
What’s the best part of your job and why?
Being able to run my business how I want. To control when and who I work with whilst knowing that what you do is really making a difference to people’s lives.
What’s the most challenging part of your job and why?
There is no doubt that being a Financial Adviser is a job that will constantly challenge you in all areas, whether it be time, knowledge, or commitment to always give the correct advice and always be there to guide your clients through the minefield of knowledge. Making the correct decisions at key points in their lives.
What is it you do that you think is most beneficial in helping clients meet their financial needs?
Making a real difference to people’s lives, by helping families meet their immediate needs and long term goals with straight forward easy to understand principles for retirement planning, investment and protection.
How do you spend your spare time i.e. hobbies, interests, charitable work
I always like to be active and enjoy long walks with my wife, Victoria and our Labrador, Murphy. I also like to play golf and I am a member of a private club in the area. Keeping fit is one of my challenges and I like to get to the gym as often as I can, along with participating in our local weekly park run.
What’s your biggest achievement outside of work?
Simply being in the fortunate position of being fit, healthy, happily married and having two hard working, wonderful children.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received (financial or otherwise)?
Never doubt your own ability; if you have the desire to succeed, you can, no matter what anyone else may think. If you get the chance always take on new challenges throughout your life, if you can't do something, work hard and learn how.
What was the best customer outcome you delivered in the last 12 months?
Knowing that I have taken control of my client’s retirement planning, I know that when they reach their retirement age I have helped them achieve their objectives and helped them to be more financially secure.
