Why did you choose to become a financial adviser?
I chose to become a financial adviser because after many years in business and also raising a family I had the necessary life skills to relate to clients’ needs and ambitions for the future.
What’s the best part of your job and why?
I like the customer facing part, because that’s where I can really get to understand my clients’ needs and discuss solutions face to face.
What’s the most challenging part of your job and why?
The most challenging part of my job and the most important that underpins all financial planning is to explain to clients the need for protecting the family from hardship caused by an untimely death or unemployment and sickness.
What is it you do that you think is most beneficial in helping clients meet their financial needs?
Putting plans in place for my clients that mean they will be able to accomplish their goals in life, whether that is a prosperous retirement or planning for education.
How do you spend your spare time i.e. hobbies, interests, charitable work?
Weekends are full. My youngest daughter plays football for Manchester United and Saturdays are spent traveling to matches. Sunday is spent either hill walking or playing golf with friends, if the sun is shining.
What’s your biggest achievement outside of work?
My family, I have four daughters and all are happy and successful, my eldest is a teacher, another works for Francis House in the children's hospice field, the third is an estate and lettings manager about to be married to a policeman, and my youngest is a straight A student. But the reason I am most proud of them is they are all kind people.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received (financial or otherwise)?
My Father told me not to worry about possessions, worry about people.
What was the best customer outcome you delivered in the last 12 months?
I was able to release the proceeds from investments I had put in place for a long term client who had overcome a stage three cancer, allowing her to take early retirement and travel with her Fiancé.
