Press comment: The Pensions Regulator bares teeth over auto enrolment

11/05/2017

If you are covering the TPR announcement today relating to employer breaches of auto-enrolment requirements, please see the following comment from Old Mutual Wealth retirement policy expert, Jon Greer:

Jon Greer“Today’s news show The Pensions Regulator is willing to bare its teeth on auto enrolment. While the ‘Workie’ TV advertising has pursued a relatively light-hearted tone in drawing attention to employer auto-enrolment responsibilities, today the regulator showed it is willing to get tough on employers that don’t meet their obligations.

“This is a warning shot for companies that are delaying setting up a workplace pension for their staff.

“If you think you should be getting a pension, speak to your employer. The company has to pay in, and you receive tax-relief on any money you contribute, so if you aren’t getting the pension you’re entitled to you could be missing out.”
