Skandia, part of Old Mutual Wealth, today announces Gower Wisdom has been appointed as product director.

In his new role, Gower will be responsible for developing Skandia’s customer proposition, including product and pricing strategy for its UK, International and Continental Europe business. His focus will be developing new products and enhancing existing products to ensure they continue to deliver value to financial advisers and customers. A particular focus will be the development of the new retirement income proposition following the proposed changes announced in the Budget 2014.

Gower has worked with Skandia since 2011, most recently as head of protection product & pricing. He has been heavily involved in the development of Skandia’s protection proposition and managed the launch of its new high quality critical illness product in April last year. He has worked at Old Mutual group for a total of 10 years with roles in various parts of the business including product, finance and risk management.

Gower will report to Carlton Hood, customer solutions director at Old Mutual Wealth.

Carlton Hood comments:

“We believe that customers need three principle elements to help them secure their financial future – the best financial advice, relevant managed investment portfolios and tax-efficient product solutions.  Gower will be responsible for developing the range of solutions we offer and ensuring they form part of an integrated proposition that adds value to financial advisers and is based on an understanding of different customer needs. Gower has extensive knowledge of our business and an exceptionally sharp mind, I am confident he and his team will excel in the new role.”

“I am really excited to be taking on the role of product director at such an exciting time for the business. The acquisition of Intrinsic and the launch of our new WealthSelect managed portfolio service, combined with our existing products give us a great springboard for growth. I look forward to developing products that support this growth and our strategy of becoming the UK’s best retail investment business.”
