Skandia International builds presence in Africa

Skandia International, part of Old Mutual Wealth, builds its team in the Middle East and Africa with the appointment of Matthew Firman.

Matthew Firman will join Skandia International as an area manager for Africa in July 2014. He will be based in Dubai and will visit Africa on a regular basis. Matthew’s role will significantly increase Skandia International’s local distribution support. Matthew will focus on developing relationships with Old Mutual Africa, local IFAs and banks, helping to broaden Skandia International’s reach in the region.

Matthew joins from Friends Provident International where he was senior regional sales manager for Africa. Prior to this, he held sales roles at Metlife Europe Ltd and The Hartford Life Ltd.

With over 15 years’ experience in financial services, Matthew’s understanding and knowledge of the region will be of great value, and will help Skandia International build relationships with key distribution partners across Africa.

Brendan Dolan, head of the Middle East and Africa region, comments:

“Matthew’s appointment will help re-enforce our presence in Africa and help us achieve our ambitious growth plans in the region.  The growth potential in the area is significant, and we remain committed to servicing and developing our business in Africa.”
