Old Mutual Wealth announces new Group name

At a showcase event on 15 November Paul Feeney, Chief Executive of Old Mutual Wealth, presents a detailed picture and strategic direction of the Old Mutual Wealth business. This includes the announcement of a new name for the Old Mutual Wealth Group which will take effect upon separation from Old Mutual plc. The name of the Group company is Quilter plc.

There will be no change for your clients. In the immediate term our individual business names (such as the Old Mutual Wealth UK Platform) will remain unchanged. The change of group name will be gradual, starting with listing, though you may also see it introduced in one or two places such as our sponsorship.

We intend to rebrand the businesses within the Old Mutual Wealth Group over a period of approximately two years from separation from Old Mutual plc to align them closer to Quilter. We will provide more details as to the timetable for any change to the platform well in advance of it taking place.

What exactly is changing?

Ahead of our Managed Separation from Old Mutual Group and our planned listing on the UK and Johannesburg stock exchanges next year, we are announcing a change to our group holding company name from Old Mutual Wealth Management Limited to Quilter plc. This is the company name we will list under.

Why is the group being named Quilter?

Quilter traces its origins to an investment partnership founded above a coffee shop in the heart of the City of London in 1771. It is a name that resonates from our past and is a brand that stands for quality, for personal service, and for dependability; values that go to the heart of our business. Quilter builds on our heritage to take us forward to our future as a modern, integrated, UK Wealth Manager.

What will the various Old Mutual Wealth businesses become known as, over time?

During the approximate two year period following completion of our separation from Old Mutual plc:

  • the UK Platform will become Quilter Wealth Solutions
  • the UK Heritage Life and Pensions business will become Quilter Life Assurance
  • Old Mutual Wealth’s international business will become Quilter International
  • Intrinsic will become Quilter Financial Planning
  • Old Mutual Wealth Private Client Advisers will become Quilter Private Client Advisers
  • our multi-asset business will become Quilter Investors
  • Quilter Cheviot will retain its name.

Are you contacting my clients about the change of group name?

Given there is no immediate change for your clients, we are not communicating this to them at this stage. If your clients have any questions, we have prepared a client Q&A you can use should you wish to.
